My journey as a birth doula began in January 2008 when my sister gave birth to her first child. Because of circumstances, I was her birth partner - attending her childbirth classes, doctor's appointments and her birth. Instinctively I became her birth doula, even though I didn't have any formal training.
After this magical experience, I began reading and learning everything I could about birth. In 2010 I began studying with a midwife in Michigan, and worked with her until late 2011.
During this time I was enrolled in a four-year professional naturopathic program, where I deepened my understanding and knowledge of birthing and how to help mother and child during every stage of the birthing process, using nutrition, homeopathy, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and holistic dialogue.
In 2012, I decided to finally complete a formal doula program in Montreal, Canada, through Montreal Birth Companions. After attending my first "official" birth as a doula in Montreal, I had that "aha" moment -the moment when you realize your calling. I also completed the Madriella doula course and am a Madriella certified doula.
I'm very passionate about helping women achieve the birth they really want, no matter the setting. My passion for holistic medicine and healing combined with my love for the birthing process, along with my fierce desire to protect women in their rights and wishes during their birth, has guided me to become a holistic doula in Montreal. I offer comprehensive doula packages to suit every family's needs. I am based in the West Island of Montreal (Dollard-des-Ormeaux), and serve all of Montreal, including Montreal's surrounding areas.
In 2012, I took the WHO/UNICEF breastfeeding training course in Montreal. I also have experience working as a nurse's assistant (CNA) as well as an instructor for American Red Cross on adult, child, and infant CPR & First-Aid. Additionally, I have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology and Psychology. You can find my Montreal doula blog here.
